from my school assignment “Self-portrait”
This is an artwork I made when I attented Willem de Kooning Academy in Advertising. The assignment was to make a selfportrait using somebody else from your class as your model. So the image should speak for itself rather than the person in it.
My portrait concept is about the shy, outer me. I’m a very happy, very open and social person when you get to know me, but in the beginning I’m more closed and shy, and tend to stay in the background. It really frustrates me, because I’ve tried to change this about me but it’s something I can’t help. Especially when I’m in a new school with new students. This frustration about my shyness is something I wanted to visualize in my portrait.
